Agribusiness Insurance

Insurance Built for the Business of Agriculture.

Farming has always been a business. But as operations grow — more acres, more employees, more equipment, more trucks on the road — the insurance needs grow with them. A farm policy covers your land and buildings. A crop policy protects your yield. But neither one covers the full scope of risk that comes with running an agricultural enterprise.

Graybeal Group works with agribusiness operations across Washington, Oregon, and Idaho that have outgrown a simple farm policy and need commercial coverage built around how they actually operate. We understand that distinction — and we build coverage programs that account for all of it.

Who we work with

Coverage for agricultural operations of every scale.

Our agribusiness clients range from family farming operations that have added employees and equipment to large multi-unit enterprises running grain elevators, custom harvesting services, and commercial trucking fleets. What they have in common is that their insurance needs don't fit neatly into a standard commercial policy — and they need a broker who understands the difference.

We work with:

  • Grain and crop operations with commercial trucking and hauling fleets
  • Dairy and livestock operations with year-round employees and significant equipment
  • Custom harvesters, commercial packers, and ag service contractors operating across multiple states
  • Hay exporters and forage operations moving product domestically and internationally
  • Orchards and specialty crop operations with large seasonal workforces
  • Farm package accounts combining crop, property, and commercial coverage

What agribusiness coverage includes

Commercial coverage built around your operation.

Agribusiness insurance isn't a single policy — it's a suite of coverages structured around the specific risks of your operation. Graybeal Group works with you to identify the gaps in your current coverage and build a program that accounts for your fleet, your workforce, your liability exposure, and your commodity risk.

Coverage areas we work with include:

  • Agricultural Trucking & Commercial Auto — coverage for grain trucks, livestock transport, farm fleets, and owner-operators hauling ag commodities across WA, OR, and ID
  • Agricultural Workers Compensation — workers comp structured for farm employers, seasonal labor, and the state-specific requirements of WA, OR, and ID
  • Cargo Insurance — protection for grain, livestock, and commodity loads in transit across the Pacific Northwest
  • Farm Equipment Insurance — coverage for tractors, combines, irrigation systems, and specialty equipment at current replacement value
  • General Liability — liability coverage for farm operations, agritourism, farm stands, and ag businesses with public exposure
  • Commercial Umbrella — additional liability limits for large agricultural operations with significant exposure on the road and on the ground

The Graybeal difference

An independent broker who knows agriculture.

Most commercial brokers can write a business auto policy. Fewer understand the difference between a farm auto policy and a commercial trucking policy. Fewer still know how to structure coverage for a wheat operation that runs its own grain trucks, employs a seasonal workforce, and needs cargo coverage for loads crossing state lines.

Graybeal Group has spent decades working alongside agricultural businesses across the Pacific Northwest. Our producers aren't just insurance professionals — many of them have direct ties to farming and ranching communities in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. That perspective shapes every coverage conversation we have.

What agribusiness owners ask us

Agribusiness insurance — common questions.

What's the difference between farm insurance and agribusiness insurance?
Farm insurance is designed for the property and liability risks of a farming operation — buildings, equipment, livestock, and land. Agribusiness insurance addresses the commercial risks that come with running agriculture as a business — vehicles on the road, employees, business liability, and commodity exposure. Many of our clients carry both, and we help them understand where one ends and the other begins.

Do I need separate policies for my farming operation and my trucking operation?
Often yes — but it depends on how your operation is structured. Some coverages can be bundled under a commercial policy, while others need to be structured separately based on how your vehicles and employees are classified. We work through your full operation before making any recommendations.

Can Graybeal Group handle all of our insurance — crop, farm, and commercial?
Yes. One of the advantages of working with Graybeal Group is that we operate across all three verticals — crop insurance, agriculture and farm insurance, and agribusiness commercial coverage. For operations that need all three, we can manage your full insurance program and make sure there are no gaps between your policies.
