Know your liability coverage
Protection when your business is on the line.
Commercial General Liability (CGL) protects your business against claims of bodily injury, property damage, and advertising liability arising from your operations. That includes out-of-court settlements, litigation costs, and court-awarded judgments. For many businesses, CGL is also paired with business personal property coverage inside a Business Owners Policy — giving you a cleaner, more complete foundation.
More exposure than you might think
Why ag and commercial operations need to pay attention.
Liability exposure doesn't stop at the front door. For farms, ranches, and ag-related businesses, risks can arise from equipment operation, visitor access, product liability, and work performed by contractors on your property. We take the time to understand where your exposure actually lives — so your coverage accounts for the full picture, not just the obvious risks.
For farming and ranching operations across the Pacific Northwest, common liability exposures include:
- Equipment operation on public roads and neighboring properties
- Agritourism activities — farm stands, u-pick operations, farm events, and on-site visitors
- Product liability for commodities sold directly to buyers or processors
- Contractor and hired labor working on your property
- Irrigation and water use affecting neighboring land
Many of these exposures aren't covered under a standard farm policy — and the gap only becomes visible when a claim arrives. We review your operation in full before making any coverage recommendations.
The broker difference
Finding the right carrier for your business.
As an independent brokerage, we work with a range of carriers to match your business type with coverage that fits — not just what's available from one company. We guide you through the underwriting process, help you understand what's required, and make sure you have the documentation you need to work with clients and partners who require proof of coverage.
Let's have a conversation
Let's make sure your business is covered.
One gap in your liability coverage can have a serious impact on everything you've built. Let's talk through your operation and make sure your protection is where it needs to be.
What farm and ag businesses ask us
General liability — common questions for farm operations.
Does my farm insurance policy include general liability?
Some farm policies include a basic liability component, but the limits and scope of coverage vary significantly. General liability written under a commercial policy is typically broader and better structured for operations that have employees, contractors, or public visitors on the property. We review what your current farm policy actually covers before recommending anything additional.
I run a farm stand and u-pick operation — do I need separate liability coverage?
Agritourism operations carry a distinct liability profile from a standard farming operation. Visitor access, product sales, and public events create exposures that a standard farm liability endorsement may not fully address. Oregon, Washington, and Idaho each have agritourism liability statutes that affect your coverage requirements — we'll walk you through what applies to your operation.
Are my employees and contractors covered under my general liability policy?
General liability covers third-party claims — meaning injury or damage to people or property outside your business. Injuries to your own employees are covered under workers compensation, not general liability. For contractors working on your property, coverage depends on whether they carry their own liability insurance. We help you structure both correctly.

Are you fully covered?
General liability is the foundation — many of our farm and agribusiness clients pair it with farm insurance for their property, workers compensation for their employees, and commercial umbrella insurance for additional liability limits across their full operation.
